Since worship has been the central focus of my ministry, I decided to start a blog that highlights different aspects of worship with each entry. I've led worship symposiums and Bible studies on this topic, and it's always best to begin with the Word of God, right? In the Old Testament, worship emphasized two main elements: 1) physical actions, such as raising hands, shouting, dancing, bowing, etc., and 2) heart actions, like loving the Lord with all your heart, mind, soul, strength, etc. Essentially, God desires all of you! Which seems only fair, considering He paid the ultimate price for you. In the New Testament, Jesus encouraged us to come to Him as little children. If you're a parent, grandparent, uncle, or aunt, you've likely seen a child approach their parent, perhaps twirl around, giggle, and then raise their hands, saying "I love you, Daddy." What do you think happens in the father's heart? It melts! Then, he scoops up the child and showers them with love. The same goes for our heavenly Father. We simply need to approach Him with a genuine heart, express our praise and love for Him, and His presence will become evident in your life. I've experienced this numerous times.
Stay tuned for more topics on worship as we express our love for our wonderful Lord.
Yours in Him,
Keith Johnson
