We sing many songs that express that the Lord is worthy of our praise and worship. The term “worthy” refers to having the qualities that merit recognition and signifies a notable person. Let’s explore a few aspects of the Lord’s worthiness.
He is worthy because He purchased our salvation with His blood. He is worthy because He took the stripes on His back for our healing. He is worthy because He obeyed the Father in carrying out the plans for His crucifixion. Through His sacrifice, He defeated death and the devil. He is worthy because the Father has given Him all authority and power in heaven and on earth. His kingdom will last forever, and at the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess that He is Lord of lords and King of kings.
He is worthy because He ministers His love, joy, and peace to us through His Holy Spirit. He allows us to experience His presence, His anointing, and His power, leaving us in reverence. He is gentle yet awesome in His relationship with us, revealing His glory and great love. He responds to and dwells in our praises, meets with us in prayer, and hears our supplications and petitions. He is worthy because He works everything out for our good.
He is worthy as the Almighty God, ruler over all nations, tribes, and peoples. His judgments are just, and kings fear Him. His Word has gone forth to accomplish His will and will not return to Him void. The devil and the demons tremble in terror at His power and might. There is nothing He cannot do. He knows everything and everyone.
It would take page after page to complete this list. So, the next time you sing about Him being “worthy,” reflect on these truths, and let your heart overflow with praise! We serve and love an awesome God!
